In June of 1898, five OU alumni joined together to form the OU Alumni Association. Their purpose was "to promote through union the interest of our Alma Mater, to create and perpetuate good fellowship among ourselves, and to renew our past pleasant relations."
Each year's graduates become part of an OU alumni tradition that is more than 115 years old and consists of over 250,000 alumni and friends around the world!
The Alumni Association, along with clubs and societies around and the world, offers diverse opportunities for alumni and friends to celebrate being a Sooner and to contribute to the excellence of the state's flagship university.
As we near 120 years of OU Alumni Club activities, a bedrock for Sooner community around the world has been established. As we look toward strengthening our clubs in coming years, the future appears quite bright.
OU Alumni Clubs promote the university by serving as a liaison between OU and its alumni, students and friends. As an integral part of bringing together Sooners from across the nation and the world, alumni clubs provide fellowship for graduates and friends of OU, and promote the university to prospective students. OU Alumni clubs celebrate the Sooner family, its traditions and accomplishments, and foster a desire to truly see our University Live On!
